Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 30, 2026
1. Who we are
Bloop (“Bloop,” “we,” “us”) is an AI companion app for iPhone, operated by [Company legal name], [address]. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Bloop app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions? Email [privacy@yourdomain.com].
2. The short version
- You can use Bloop without creating an account or giving us your name. [Confirm]
- What you type or say to Bloop is sent to [AI provider name] so Bloop can reply.
- Regular chats are saved in your history, and you can delete one or all of them. Incognito chats aren’t saved to your history.
- We don’t sell your personal information. [Confirm]
- Bloop is an AI, not a person or a therapist, and it can’t call for help on your behalf.
3. Information we collect
What you share with Bloop. The messages you type, and the text of what you say when you use voice. Because people talk to Bloop about their feelings, this can include sensitive information about your mental or emotional wellbeing. Please share only what you’re comfortable sharing.
Voice. If you use Talk to Bloop, the app asks for Microphone and Speech Recognition permission. Speech recognition on iPhone may be processed by Apple under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy. We receive the text of what you said, [and we do / do not] store audio recordings. You can turn permissions off any time in iOS Settings.
Chat history. For regular chats, your conversations are stored [on your device only / on our servers / both] so you can return to them.
Device and usage information. [Describe any analytics or crash reporting you use, e.g. app version, iOS version, which features are used. If you use none, say so.]
Messages to us. If you contact us, we keep your email and message so we can reply.
4. How we use information
- To run Bloop: generate replies, show your history, and read replies aloud if you turn that on.
- To show support options, for example when a message suggests you may be struggling.
- To keep Bloop safe and secure and to prevent misuse.
- To fix bugs and improve the app. [State whether chat content is ever used to improve Bloop or train models. If it isn’t, say “We do not use your chats to train AI models.”]
- To comply with the law.
5. AI and service providers
Bloop’s replies are generated by AI. To do this, your messages are sent to [AI provider name] and processed under our agreement with them [add what the agreement says about retention and training]. We also use service providers for [hosting, analytics, etc.]. They may only use your information to provide services to us. We don’t sell your personal information or share it for advertising. [Confirm]
6. Incognito chats
When you start an incognito chat, it isn’t saved to your chat history, and it won’t appear in the app afterward. To produce a reply, the message still has to be processed by our systems and our AI provider. [State exactly what happens: e.g. “Incognito messages are not stored by us after the reply is generated” or “may be retained for up to X days for abuse prevention.” Only say what is true.]
7. Keeping and deleting your information
You can delete any conversation, or all of them, from the chat history in the app. [Explain how long deleted chats remain in backups, and what else you keep and for how long.] To ask us to delete information we hold about you, email [privacy@yourdomain.com].
8. Sharing
We share information only:
- with service providers described above;
- if required by law, a court order, or to protect someone’s safety;
- if Bloop is part of a merger or sale, with the new owner, who must honor this policy.
Bloop does not monitor conversations in real time and cannot contact emergency services or anyone else for you.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, [e.g. encryption in transit and at rest, access controls]. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices and rights
You can delete chats in the app, turn off microphone and speech permissions in iOS Settings, and use incognito mode. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, or California), you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your information, to object to or restrict some processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. To use these rights, email [privacy@yourdomain.com]. We will not discriminate against you for using them.
11. Children
Bloop is not for children under [13 / 16 / 18, as decided with your lawyer]. We don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has used Bloop, contact us and we’ll delete the information.
12. International transfers
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where required, we use legal safeguards for these transfers. [Confirm]
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. If the changes are significant, we’ll tell you in the app or on this page before they take effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
